What a game for Tracy Smith.  Smith scored 31, a career high, to lead the Wolfpack to a 88-68 victory over Towson.  With the narrow victory on Monday night against Loyola(MD), NC State looked to go up big on Towson and not look back.  That didn’t turn out to be the case when NC State was down by 11 with about 11 minutes left in the first half.  Smith then came off the bench to score 12 consecutive points for the Wolfpack.

Tracy Smith continued his scoring and finished the first half with 19 points and a 5 point lead for NC State.  Costner didn’t have to bad of a game himself with 15 points and 10 assists, many of which went to Smith.  To round out the rest of the numbers, Horner and McCauley each had 10 points and Courtney Fells had 11.

Another big number I noticed was Tracy Smith’s 11 for 11 from the free throw line.  Helping his low 53% FT average on the year.   One thing we know the Wolfpack need to work on this year and get straight before ACC action is free throws.  Previously one of the best teams in the country at free throw percentage with Herb, the Wolfpack have fallen greatly and have struggled a lot this year at the line.

Next up for the Wolfpack is a road game at Florida on Saturday January 3rd at 4pm.

Its nice to see NC State take down Towson by 20, did anyone see the 40 point beat down Duke had on Loyloa though? Just something to think about…
